Embryo Transfer - Finally!

We finally made it to this day. We finally made it to our embryo transfer day, a day I was unsure would come. When going through fertility treatments you sometimes can’t see the light at the end of the tunnel. Nothing in life is guaranteed and fertility treatments are no different.

After the Lyme’s Disease, failed medications and then the kidney stones we finally had a protocol that worked for Jaz and we got here! Driving to the appointment was excitement, not only for the potential for Jaz to get pregnant but just the fact that we finally found medication that worked for her was a feat.

Walking into the building felt almost freeing and then anxiety hit when we were finally in the waiting room. Followed by this overwhelming feeling. We started at the fertility clinic over 2 years ago and this is the moment you think about when you first started. You don’t know if you will ever get to this moment but sitting in the waiting room, in the same chair I sat in 2 years ago, is truly overwhelming. Jaz was the first one to go in and then it was just Jerrad and I, just like it was 2 years ago. When the door opened and we were allowed in we walked through the door that seems so familiar. We passed the collection room where Jerrad’s sperm was taken and then we were in the pre-op area where I was on my egg retrieval day.

As soon as the automatic doors opened up into the procedure room, there were immediate tears for being back in the room where our embryo started. When you have your eggs retrieved, they are immediately sent in the back to the embryologist and being here in front of our doctor and embryologist just brought everything full circle. We were shown a photo of our healthiest embryo and the embryologist confirmed us as the parents and put it in the cathedar and handed it off to our doctor who placed it into Jaz’s thick lining and that was it! Science is truly incredible. All of that money, all the shots, doctors appointments, months of medication, all came down to a 10 minute procedure and that was all.

They checked to make sure the embryo didn’t get stuck in the cathedar and once it was confirmed the embryo was placed all that was left to do was wait ……
