7 Babies!

Our journey is complete, for now. We got amazing news.
27 eggs were removed from me during the egg retrieval surgery, CRAZY! And 21 of them fertilized, nice job swimmers! Then unfortunately a few of them did not make it to the new phase of DNA testing. We were able to test 15 embryos for the Marfan Syndrome Gene.
We were trying to remain positive and hope that we would get at least 1 that was unaffected by the Marfan gene and we would be able to hopefully have a healthy baby via-surrogate. So out of 15, the odds looked pretty good but nothing is guaranteed.
After a long 3 weeks we got the call. The DNA results are back and out of 15 we have 7 embryos that are unaffected!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Our prayers and good thoughts were answered. This could not have gone better. It looks like we will not have to do IVF again, not guaranteed, but for now we are good!
We sat with our fertility clinic and the next steps dont come until we are ready to actively look for a surrogate, which could take about a year with all of the legalities and medical hoops to go through. So to have a child via-surrogate we need to give ourselves about 2 years.
This is not the conventional route, this is not the route I would have chosen or thought about BUT I am so grateful I am medically safe and that I was able to go through IVF and that it went so well and that I have an amazing partner to go through this with. With the support of my partner, family and friends I know there is nothing we cannot handle!
I cannot wait to have our lab dish babies!!!!!!
